I recently visited Ryerrs Farm for Aged Equines (1710 Ridge Rd, Pottstown) where abused, injured, and retired horses are provided with a home. The farm is open to the public from 10am to 3:30pm daily. I arrived there around 2pm on a Sunday just a they were brining in the horses to the stables. I bought a bag of carrots for $2 to give to the horses that weren't diabetic.

Attempting to be Vegan When Returning From Vacation
Since returning to the east coast I've spent time with my non-vegan friends who like to go out to eat too. A friend and I went to The Memphis Taproom (2331 E Cumberland St, Philadelphia) on the night that we intended to check out the first Friday festivities in Philadelphia. We arrived a little later then anticipated but had a great meal and went out for drinks after at the Barcade (1114 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia). The Memphis Taproom clearly labels the vegetarian and vegan items. I had the spaghetti sandwich (lentil meatballs, marinara, & vegan mozzarella) which came with hand-cut French fries. I would definitely go back there as my sandwich was delicious and there are several other vegan options on the menu that I would like to try such as the smoked coconut club.
My best friend and I had dinner at The Royal Tavern (937 E Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia) prior to going to a Halloween Party in South Philadelphia. They clearly label their vegetarian and vegan items. I had the Tempeh Club (grilled tempeh, vegan bacon, lettuce, tomato, basil aioli) with onion rings. I ordered the one vegan dessert that they offered. The chocolate cake got better and better with every bite.
