Attempting to be Vegan When Visiting Bryce Canyon and The Grand Canyon

After enjoying my time in Springdale, Utah I drove to Bryce Canyon National Park. The views and hiking trails are incredible at Bryce. I did not eat at Bryce Canyon Lodge but they have vegan options including Gardein meatless chicken.

Before visiting Best Friends Animal Society I had lunch at Rocking V CafĂ© (rockingvcafe.com; 97 West Center Street, Kanab, Utah 84741). There vegan items are clearly marked. I ordered the Best Friends Forever which is a pita stuffed with spinach, avocado, cucumbers, roasted sweet peppers, quinoa and house-made hummus. I had the chocolate mousse for dessert; everything was delicious and filling.
Once my appetite was satisfied I headed over to Best Friends Animal Society (bestfriends.org; 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT 84741) for a tour. They have many volunteer opportunities which I would have loved to take advantage of if I had more time. That is just motivation to get involved with organizations that benefit animals at home in Pennsylvania.

My last meal in Utah was at Dog House Tavern, (98 S 100 E, Kanab, UT 84741) a bar that only serves vegan food and sells vegan products such as Earth Balance Cheddar Squares.

My last stop before returning to Las Vegas was the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. Even though I stayed at the beautiful Grand Canyon Lodge, I did not dine there. They too serve Gardein.

I completely overindulged at Slice of Vegas (www.sliceofvegaspizza.com; 3930 S Las Vegas Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89119 located in The Shoppes at Mandalay Place). They have a separate vegan menu. I ordered Chick'n Wings which were served with vegan ranch sauce, a meatless meatball sub, and vegan chocolate cake with a peanut butter frosting.

After stuffing myself I went on the high roller and the LINQ and discovered that I prefer a Ferris Wheel that overlooks a body of water. I also saw my favorite comedian Christopher Titus perform live which was the perfect end to my vacation.
